God’’s Grace Overcomes Sin  Part 5

By Ken Fletcher

“Now, personally, I don’t really want to get into this part, or like talking about it much, but, we’re about the truth here and reality. So, we’re going to talk about this a little as the Lord has directed. I have to touch on this part before we close these articles out. I have studied the scriptures on this subject of a believer being able to loose their salvation. Is it possible to be in Christ and then once again become lost, separated, and going to hell? Some say once saved always saved. But, is that really true?

The question is, is it possible for one to loose his salvation? The answer is, yes. It is. But, not for most all believers. From my study of the scriptures, I believe that it is possible for a believer to trample under their feet the salvation by which they were saved by an act of their will. It is the most serious and disastrous thing a Christian can do. After studying it out, I believe that this only could happen to a person who is fully mature in the Lord. Who knows completely what they are doing. Who knows what it means to walk in the Spirit fully.

I do not believe an immature believer who gets deceived and caught up into sin is able. No. Not that person. Not possible! Only one who is fully mature and knows exactly and fully what they are doing deliberately! The immature believers are not capable of this kind of decision. Which is most all of us. Only a very mature seasoned believer can even attempt to do such a thing! These are the ones who could do this by an act of their own will.

Why in the world would anyone do such a thing? I really can’t answer that. Unimaginable! The horror of the thought! In essence, it is rejecting the blood of Jesus which they were sanctified by–calling it an unholy thing! With complete mature understanding of what they are doing!

And, if that were to happen in a mature believer’s life, and they really decide to do it and come against God’s only sacrifice, then, they will be “born again” again into separation from God. Now, we realize even in life here on earth what a child may foolishly say is not the same thing as a full grown mature adult son or daughter does.

We know that the child does not have enough understanding to make any such huge and destiny changing choice. So, even if the child (immature Christian) says they are through with Jesus, they do not really know what they are saying and doing. And, God knows that. But, God also knows when a fully mature son or daughter rejects Jesus. And, completely understands what that means, (which only God can see and know where they are), that’s another matter.

For them, if they do that, it is final. For them, there is no way back to God. Please understand, for us all, our salvation is a one time deal. There’s no repenting to be re-saved. There is no re-saving! So, in essence the real truth is, we are only born into the Kingdom one time–the first time! And, I cannot fathom why anyone would want to leave the family of God no matter how mature they are. I truly cannot!

Though we don’t talk about this much, from the scriptures I believe it’s true. As far as I know, I have never personally met anyone who has done this. So, I really believe it would be very extremely, most extremely rare. I mean, who would do such a thing? But the reality is, if one did do that, it’s very similar to what Lucifer did before when he was in heaven.

But, I must tell you the truth about the possibility of it. There is no fear because our hearts are all about Jesus. But, understand, no matter how mature you become in Christ, you are only born again in Christ one time! If a mature soul ever rejects redemption, there is no way back anymore. There is no revolving door with God, my friend. Nope! That’s the truth.

How does a person end up at the place that this tragedy could happen? Well, there is a starting place and it involves sin and it involves pride. We must guard against sin and pride that we become aware of. We are born again with the Spirit of Jesus in us! In our soul we inheritantly want to do Father’s will. But, we’re walking around on earth in this earth suit that does not want to do Father’s will.

So, we endeavor to walk or live in the Spirit. Being directed by Jesus throughout the day and night. In this way we can have our attention upon Him and our relationship with Him instead of how much we are missing it.

As we live with our focus upon the Lord inside, we find as we go along that we’re sinning much less or not intentionally at all. We’re finding out that, with our attention upon Jesus, we are walking in love more. We will still miss it sometimes, but we’ll miss it less and less.

Will we ever be completely sin free in our being? No. Not in this life. But, we can live in a manner that sin no longer has dominion over us in this life! That our spirit is running things from the inside. We can!

Sin weighs us down. It brings condemnation. But, we can live free in Christ. We ARE one in Him! We identify with who we are in the spirit, not who we are in the flesh anymore. Because, in a little while, if the Lord tarries, your flesh and my flesh is going to drop off of us like an old suit of clothes. And then all is swallowed up in life and glory with Jesus. And, THAT is what I am looking forward to more than anything.

I hope this series of articles on this subject will cause you to consider these things before the Lord yourself. Study them in the Word for yourself. See if I’m koo-koo! Remember, it always has been and always will be about relationship with us and God. With Him, it’s not about how many times we have missed it. He just picks us up and brushes us off, and says, lets go again! With our focus upon Jesus inside, I believe we’re understanding it! Better and better!” KF  KenFletcher.org
