Closer

By Ken Fletcher

“If we draw near to God, He draws near to us. How close do we want to be? How intimate? How much in agreement are we with Jesus?

I’m finding that I am not satisfied with how close I have been. Though I have been close for a long time, I want to be closer! I want more of the reality of Jesus. I want to see it His way, not my own.

Seems like more than ever, I am more and more dependent on Him and His leadership. Maybe it’s because I am realizing more that I know so little about what is really going on in the unseen realms. (Just being transparent here.)

To live closer to Jesus inside means we are more spiritually aware of what is going on. Increasingly, we become aware of reality as He sees it.

He reveals more and more to us. According to what we can handle at our maturity level. He reveals and pulls back the curtain of deception when we are close. It seems to me that to be closer to Jesus is living in a more real understanding.

We are doing this life together, Jesus and us, by way of the Holy Spirit. He is ever present within our soul. We are re-created perfect and entire(our spirit and soul) when we became one with the Spirit of God.

We became connected with Jesus and the Father. Even when we don’t perceive God within our heart, He is there.  Always, God is there! We are infused with Him and His life.

If we draw near to Jesus, He draws near to us. Is He drawing near to us or is it that we, drawing near to Him, allows Him to help our perception of Him within us more?

He never leaves us–whether we perceive Him or not. Many times, our thoughts and feelings within us are shouting louder than what Jesus is trying to say. Being closer to Him enables us to perceive His direction better and more pronounced within us.

I have decided that His way, not my way, is the best for me.  Why? Because I trust Him. Because He sees my paths and destinations ahead when I do not. It is wisdom to trust in Jesus with our lives.

We should look to Him to lead us into the right choices and decisions. He knows our heart better than we do! To be closer to Jesus is to perceive more of who He already is within us! We just grow in the knowledge and understanding of Him and our union with Him.

Oh, I want to be closer. The benefits of being close are so many! Above all, we get to know Him more completely the closer we walk with Jesus.

But, remember, we are the ones who personally draw near to Him, then He draws near to us. Even though He is there inside all the time! Amazing! How good Jesus is to us!

We are the ones who initiates all of this. Where does it come from within us? It comes from our own heart’s desire. It comes from our own will deep within our soul.

It is completely individual and voluntary. God does not interfere with this part of us. He inspires us to greater faith in Him.

He invites us to be as close as we desire. Why? Because He Himself desires to be close to us already. But, God has given each of us a will of our own to do as we wish. It pleases Him when we WANT to draw near to Him.

It takes faith to draw near to God. We must believe that He wants us to come closer. We must believe that we are not condemned and are in right standing before Him. We must believe that He hears and understands our heart’s cry. Because He does!

The closer we draw to the Master we can experience more of His understanding. We will understand real Spirit led living. We will know His voice. Because we’re living close. That is where I want to abide. Close to the Master. I pray you who have read this are inspired to want the same thing.” KF  KenFletcher.org
