Death of the body is a strange thing for humans to experience. We were not supposed to be separated from our earthly body. We were originally created in the beginning with 3 parts. Soul, Spirit, Body. The body was the part that was for our direct contact with the creation of earth as it is also earthly. But, the soul of mankind (which is spiritual) was in total contact with the body and flowed seamlessly in touch with the physical world.
We were not designed to die. Science has proved that our cells were designed to renew every 7 years. We were designed to be in unity with the other parts of our being constantly. Back then, we were in touch with the spirit realm AND the physical realm without any hinderance simultaneously. We did not understand death. Because there was only life everywhere.
Our soul is eternal. And, because of the fall of mankind in the beginning, we’re separated from God’s life and our bodies have death in them. God’s definition of our eternal separation from Him is spiritual death. That’s real eternal death, not just the death of the body. The only way for us to come out of real spiritual death is through faith in Jesus! He brought the eternal life of God to us! We can live through faith in Him! That’s the good news of Jesus! He shares His eternal life freely with us!
In a believer’s life, there comes a time when our body is going to die and go back to the earth elements. All that means to us believers is we are separating from the 3rd part of our being that is sinful and temporary–leaving it here on the cursed earth, and we’re instantly aware of the presence of God and the angels around us.
We are first and foremost a spirit being! We believers do just fine without our physical body! All believers in heaven do not have physical bodies at this time–only Jesus has a physical body there now. His is a glorified body. Not subject to death anymore! We are promised that we will have a body just like the one Jesus has now. That is in the future. But, in Jesus, it is sure and steadfast.
We will have a body that has no resistance to what we want to do. Then, our total being will be in total agreement with God. Soul, spirit, and body in harmony with Jesus! That is what is coming for the believer! It is exciting to think about what is in our future. What it is going to be like then. Face to face with our Father! What could be better?
What happens when a believer’s outer man dies? Joy! Enveloped with love and peace. Looking around at our Kingdom with Jesus! Those of us who are on this side of physical death cannot see what others know and experience all the time.
But, we are still here for a purpose! And, that is to share the good news of Jesus to everyone who will listen. Everyone needs Jesus! No matter who they are! As believers, we know where we are going after our body dies. It’s the unbeliever who does not know where they are going after their body dies. That is a terrible thing!
To fear death is nothing but torment to the soul. And, to fear death means that you must not know Jesus yet. Of course, the body naturally fights death. There is apprehension involved about what it will be like to cross over. That is understandable.
But, the reality is, Jesus will be there with us.through it all. And, He will guide us faithfully. So, even when we should be afraid, we have peace as we trust in our good God. Who is with us always and in everything.
I do not want to leave early because we only get one opportunity to be here like this. It is an important time for us here. Each day is important! Each choice is important. But, death is at work in all of our earthly bodies. And, aging is occurring in these earthly bodies which is a manifestation of death in our cells.
It amazes me that all of these years have passed so quickly in my life. I am now considered an old man. Though, inside I do not feel old at all. But, I look in the mirror and there it is! That body that used to have no wrinkles or no grey is gone! But, praise God, I have been able to stay this long and I want to complete the whole plan of God for me before I leave.
So, I believe I will be here for a while yet by His grace. Have you given any thought to what we have been discussing here about your own life? This life is very brief. More brief to some than others. But, always very brief. The Bible says it is like a vapor that appears for a moment and then is gone. In the face of eternity, what we are going through here is very very quick!
Lets make the most out of our time on this cursed earth. Lets allow the Lord to use us to help others to come to know Him while we are here! That is what is important for all of us as we are alive on earth. Lets examine ourselves to see if we are on track with what is really important.
Our eternal destinations are up to us. Do we stay in the darkness? Or do we run to the light? Your own heart knows. What we are now spiritually is what we will be at physical death. The main and most important question is, are we in Christ or not?” KF KenFletcher.org
