“The Bible says by Jesus’s stripes we are healed. In 1 Peter 2:24, looking back upon the finished work at the cross says, by His stripes we WERE healed. Past tense! My dear friend, the work has already been done.
We’re not trying to GET God to do anything! That would imply that He has done nothing about our healing. BUT, He already HAS done something about our healing! He has ALREADY taken the punishment to bring healing to each of us who believe! Already! Done! Finished! Completed!
So, why are we begging God to heal us? That makes no sense. That means that we believe that He has done nothing about our healing. Which is completely crosswise of the Bible!
Over the years, I have heard preaching from the Bible that is not right! People cast doubt upon the word from their experiences or from tradition. Maybe aunt so and so or uncle Hershel had this or that experience, and they believed it this way or that.
Listen, if they did not believe it the way the Bible teaches us, then they have been off about the subject. They can be totally sincere about what they believe, but they can be sincerely wrong! I have found out that the ONLY reason we do not receive what the Bible says is because of our UNBELIEF!
It is subtile sometimes. But, unbelief in our heart is why we do not receive. We can call it a lot of other things, but at the heart, we don’t believe what God said about it and receive. Obviously, God wants us to receive our healing since He is the One who paid for it. But, God cannot do your part.
As my father in the faith, Kenneth E. Hagin, used to say, “There is a God-ward part and a man-ward part in everything”. God has completed His part in full. All that remains is the man-ward part to complete it in our lives.
God can do far beyond what we can imagine. His ability is not the question. Whether or not He can do it in us is not the question. Of course He can (has the ability)! So, why isn’t it happening? We see in the word what He has done. Why isn’t it coming to pass in us? Lack of faith!
It is through faith that we receive all the promises of God! Through faith! How does this all work? The Bible declares that it is by grace THROUGH faith that we receive from God! There it is! Do you see it?
There is where the breakdown is! It is in our own personal faith! If we are not receiving what God has done, we are not believing! We have doubt present in our heart! Even a sliver of doubt is too much! How do we get it out? It is like poison to faith!
We get it out by displacement! What do I mean by that? We know we have doubt in there. Sometimes a lot of doubt. We intentionally begin filling our heart (tank) with God’s faith food (His Word). We keep filling and filling and filling. Every day. Every night.
We keep putting it in. the word of faith. The word on healing. The truth of what Jesus did for us. All the time. Every day. Thinking about what the truth is on healing. What Jesus did for us. And, then before you know it, in a little while, or how ever long it takes, we have displaced ALL the doubt out of our heart. We are FULL of faith in God’s word about healing.
No doubt about us receiving anymore. We know it is ours. Then, we simply act upon the faith that is in our heart. We pray and receive. We speak and receive. In faith! No doubt is present or allowed to stay.
Sometimes a doubt thought will try and drift into our mind. But, we deal with it and cast it aside! Out of our being that is full of faith in God! We must understand that we’re not trying to get God to heal us. We are trying to fill ourselves with the truth that He already HAS healed us. And, it is US that needs to believe and act upon what He has done!
There are many hindrances to our faith. But, at the root of them all is unbelief. Why does any sick person not receive from what God has done? They don’t believe He will do it for them. Maybe they don’t feel worthy because of somethings they may have done wrong in life.
Maybe they think He only heals some people some of the time. Maybe it’s not His will, they think. Maybe God wants me to suffer for Him for some reason, they may think. No, my friend, none of that is true about God!
He tells us in His word what His will is! And His will is that Jesus was tortured to pay for our healing! That is what is true! And, the problem is, we don’t believe it. And, because we don’t believe it, we cannot receive it! Doubt will always lock you out! To receive healing from God is just like all the other promises of God–including entering in to eternal life with Jesus! Believe and doubt not!
So, my friend, in the area of physical healing, we’ve got to get the doubt out! That is, if we want to receive what God has paid for us to have!” KF KenFletcher.org
