“One of the most important things in a believer’s life is to know what God is personally leading us to do. How does that happen? Through God’s written Word and through His Spirit that lives within us. Our spirit is designed to hear from God!
We are not separated but we are joined 24/7 with the Holy Spirit of God, Jesus, and yes, the Father Himself! We’re connected! Why are we not hearing from Him as we should? First of all, we must know the Word. We must read, and study, and meditate in it.
We need a revelation of who we are in Christ! It does not come dropping down on us like ripe cherries off of a tree. We apply ourselves to finding out the truth about who we are created in Christ and what God’s will is on whatever it is that we’re studying.
We think deeply upon what He has said. We get it into our heart real solid. We apply what He has said. We practice it. Over and over! Until we realize personally what God has said. We make it real in our lives through faith!
God wants us all to be close and hear Him clearly. But, what He wants is not all there is to it. What do we want? We have the deciding factor in our hands. I hear people complaining about their sickness or disease, but they are not going to God’s Word to find out what He has said about it. So, how bad do they want to be healed? They do not really believe that God’s Word has their solution and it affects their whole approach! And so, they never get into faith about their situation.
Many are desperate to be healed, but they are blind to their solution! Because it is spiritual. Because it requires faith. Of course, their solution is in God’s Word. Their answer is faith in God’s Word! Will they search it out? Will they study it? Will they believe it? Will they do what the Word says to receive their healing? Will they?
Once we have the Word real solid in our heart, and there is no doubt left, we can act and receive every time! But, how many really believe that? Well, you can tell by how people approach the Word. They do not really believe that their healing is in the Word. So, they never even start to investigate!
The Spirit of God always agrees with the Word. And, He lives in our spirit 24/7. Will He lead us in what is in line with the Bible? Yes! Of course He will! And, we should be hearing from Him inside of our hearts and minds.
We are spirit. God is Spirit. God’s Spirit is blended and infused with our spirit. We are one! Sometimes, we may get a real strong leading deep in our spirit. Sometimes a warning to not do something, or go in a certain direction. And then, sometimes, it can be a joyful velvety sense inside giving us a green light to go a certain way or to do something. We must always listen to our spirit! Jesus is always after our best!
He should be in our thoughts about whatever we are facing in life. He is ready to impart His wisdom to us instantly. Are we listening to His directions? Are we looking to Him for His wisdom? Are we seeking His way? Do we want it God’s way in our life, or do we want it our way?
When Jesus knows, and we know, that we really and truly want it God’s way, we can hear from Jesus true! We will hear from Him. He desires to lead us in His way, but, we have a lot to say about whether or not He is able to do it. Our lives must be totally submitted and consecrated–yielded to His will before we can hear His directions clearly. That’s the real test of where we are headed.
Is our life totally and completely consecrated and submitted to His will for us? And, that, my friend, is why many are NOT hearing from Jesus true! They are NOT totally submitted to His way and His will for them. So, guess who they are going to hear from in their thoughts? THEM! Or maybe the devil.
They are going to listen to what they want to do in whatever situation! So, the true and pure hearing from Jesus inside is colored and distorted by their own will. The way we find out God’s will for us in particular is when we are sold out to Jesus in every way we know how to! We WANT to do it His way, ONLY!
So, then, Jesus is committed to leading us in His best for us and others. You may think that your situation is too difficult for any solution. There IS a solution to whatever you are dealing with! It is in God! And, you can find out what the solution is through putting the time in and studying God’s Word concerning it.
But, also, we can find out the solution in particular through God’s Spirit that is dwelling in us. He can lead you specifically to the right places in His Word. He can lead you to the right people and places. But, to hear Him truly, we have to trash our own agendas. Our own plan. Our own way. Most do not want to do that.
So, when they pray or communicate with God about it, He cannot get His true solution to them because THEY have muddied the waters inside by their own will! They do not have confidence in what He is trying to speak to them. Can you see that?
The true only comes when the false is done away with and our real pure desire to only do it God’s way is present. We can even fool ourselves! But, God knows the true about us all the time. What if we would really, wholeheartedly, consecrate our lives to His purposes entirely? My friend, we would hear clearly from God on everything we need to know!
I have found out from Jesus in life that He is always after my good. He leads us into the places He has foreseen us going. He sees the way! I want to follow where He leads. Because, I know, it is the best for me. He knows much better than I do. Because He sees the destinations of where my choices will bring me. I want to always choose His way!
That is where I am trying to get in life. Where I always hear clearly from God about anything! But, I’ve got to get myself out of the way to do that! I’ve got to get my will submitted to Jesus in all things to hear from Him clearly about all things! But, that is my goal. Because, I have found out that His way is ALWAYS, ALWAYS better!
If I can hear from Jesus, I can get it right down here below in my life! I can approach Him confidently and unashamedly in the judgement knowing that I was committed to do it His way! And, while we are here on earth, we get to experience God’s miracles because we followed what we heard Him say in our hearts! That is exciting!
It all comes through hearing Jesus true in our heart and mind. We are the ones who determine how well we hear from God. We are the ones who determines how clear we hear the true from Him. We can position ourselves to always hear from Him. We can clear out all the garbage in our heart. We can make it a priority in our lives!
We’re the ones who need to make the necessary adjustments inside. So that we CAN hear accurately the Master’s directions and will for us! It is a privilege to hear from Jesus! It is a joy to do things His way! It is exciting to live by faith in His Words!
I hope that this article will make you hungry for this kind of relationship with Jesus and the Father. You are not limited or restricted by God. The thing is, how much do you want to really hear from Him? That is where it is! It’s about YOUR desire in your own heart.
I want to hear from Jesus clearly all the time. So, I’ve got to keep my own selfish will out of the mix inside! Sometimes, we find ourselves just going along NOT submitted. And, we will get life our way. But, we will not get what He has for us that way! We have to deeply desire what He says much more than what we want personally.
We must be submitted and willing to adjust and change at His direction at any time! That is when we will perceive His way! And, we can walk it out by faith in His Words! And, THAT is where the fun is! It’s in living by faith in what Jesus says every day!” KF KenFletcher.org
