Real Prayer

By Ken Fletcher

“When you pray or communicate with God, are you really praying in faith? How can we know that what we pray for God will actually do? If there is no faith then there is no connection.

Many people pray, chant, get themselves into trances, meditate, and all kinds of other practices. Some are just hoping or wishing something will happen when they pray. God is not a Jeanie granting wishes. He is not going to do anything apart from His will–which is His word. So, just praying with wishing and hoping something will change means nothing to God. It is wasted breath to Him.

We must learn to do things by faith. We pray by faith! What does that mean? It means that we base our prayer, our believing, upon what God has said. If we do not hear from God about something, then we have nothing to base our confidence in.

When we have God’s word on something, we know that we can believe Him for it and about it! We know His word, then we know His will. Then, we have a basis for belief. We have a foundation where we can stand in faith!

We know, based upon His word, how things are going to turn out. We know our believing must come to pass because it is based upon the forever settled word of God. If we don’t change our believing, and God will never change, something else must change. The circumstances must change to line up with our faith because we are locked in to the word of God!

The situation has to change! Because, God’s word won’t change, and if we don’t stop believing, the circumstance must change! Now, that is real prayer! Effectual prayer! When I pray, I am praying my desire. But, it must be based upon God’s will or I am praying in vain.

I cannot pray against what He wants. How can God do what is against Himself? Well, He is not going to. The truth of the matter is, He has already set in motion everything we need. It has already been done. We enter into it.

Many times when I pray for someone, I realize He is already doing what I am praying for. So, I really am just agreeing with Him on the thing. I am so glad He is that way. He is constantly watching and working to help us. How many times do you think He has preserved you and your family’s life? More than you think and know about! So, our prayers many times are prayers of things He has already done or is already doing. We need to stay thankful for all the things God does for us every day!

There are people who think they are connecting with God who do not know Jesus. They will go into the spirit and they will experience things. Well, personally, I would not want to do anything in the spirit without Jesus! I would not risk it! We live in a world of deception. Those who are exploring spiritual things apart from Jesus are, in a greater way, opening themselves up for more deception. Deeper deception.

They think they are experiencing truth, but there is no pure truth apart from the living God! And there is no access to the living God except through His Son Jesus! To try and pray and contact God another way is going to bring deception to you. That is why believers pray to God the Father in Jesus’ Name! It’s all because of Jesus that our prayers contact God. It is believing and acting on God’s word that brings results.

It is faith in His word that we base our prayers upon. There is no other foundation of truth we can stand on! But, when we get the revelation of standing in faith on God’s word, we can believe we receive. We can know it is done after we pray. No uncertainty! Solid on His word. Because we know God cannot lie.

Our faith is based upon His will. Many people do not know His will. And, their praying shows it. Their prayers will not effect any change. But, faith-filled prayer works every time! Sometimes people will start out good, but then get tired of standing in patience waiting on the manifestation of the thing they prayed for.

But, my friend, don’t be weary in well doing. Keep standing! Don’t move off of your faith in God’s word. Do not cast off your confidence! The manifestation is on it’s way! Timing is everything with God. Find out His timing on things!

On earth, people are “praying” and there’s a whole lot of hot air going into the atmosphere. But, that is all it is–hot air. If God is not hearing it, we’re just flapping our gums for nothing–thinking we’re doing something! How silly!

God responds to faith! Faith in God is based upon His word. Whether the written word, the Bible, or inside of our re-created spirits. We believers pray because we believe it will be as God says. Are you really getting anything done when you are praying? Well, you may have thought you were. But, are you really confident your prayer is God’s will? If not, you may be wasting your time. Just praying into the air.

Our heart motivation is important also. Why are we praying? Does it line up with God’s word? If it doesn’t, then your prayer is nothing more than wishing upon a star in la-la land. With no substance or foundation.

Study! Get yourself in line with God’s word on the subject you are wanting to pray about. Find out what He says about it! Get into agreement with Him about it! Be filled with faith about it! Drive out the doubt. Then, you are ready to pray and believe!” KF KenFletcher.org
