Growth

By Ken Fletcher

“They say wisdom comes with age. Sometimes that is true. But, I have seen some older people who are doing and saying things like 6th graders. They just never grew up in some areas! Which is really sad. It could be different with them. Jesus would help them as He does for anyone who will receive Him.

Looking at my own life, it seems that I’m in a constant place of change–in growth. I am seeking wisdom and understanding. Do I miss it? Mercy sakes, yes I do! But, I’m endeavoring to get things right before Jesus.

I’m a big cut up sometimes. I’m misunderstood sometimes. But, I always want my heart to be right with Jesus. So, as I go along, I am constantly being corrected by Him. That means growth. He does not want me to stay in the 6th grade. Well, I don’t either!

The Bible says to desire the sincere milk of the Word so that we can grow. Grow in what? Our understanding of the truth! Who we are now in Christ! We should all be in a constant mode of change into the image of Christ who is inside of us!

We should always be very thankful for His correction. It is always for our benefit so we can grow. There is much for us to learn about ourselves and life in general from the Lord.–If we are only humble to receive His correction, wisdom and understanding. Then, bold enough to do what He says.

What a privilege it is to see right. To understand right. To view one’s self right. To be able to accept correction from our Lord in order to be a greater blessing to people.

Each time I reach a place of higher wisdom or understanding with the Lord, the more it seems magnified in my own perception of my lack of understanding and wisdom in other areas. I have made a little progress, but now I see more clearly what other stuff needs to change! There is so much to see and understand about ourselves. We’ve come a long way, but we’ve got a long way to go!

Have you ever asked yourself, why did I do that? Or, why did I say that? What was the motivation behind it? One thing that I know, we all have much to grow into. And, because of that fact, we need to give each other lots of grace for each other’s faults. We should never look down our nose at another person.

The Lord sees and knows the complete of the situation. We cannot know what Jesus knows in another person. So, we just need to work on ourselves to be better and leave the rest to God.

It seems we have a bad tendency compare ourselves with another person. We shouldn’t be doing that since we are all so individually unique with Jesus. He knows the complete in each of us. We don’t.

Growth is only possible when we humbly recognize our faults. And, that is only possible, really, because of the Holy Spirit in us who reveals the truth and makes us aware. Thank God for that! Thank God for the Holy Spirit!

I want to say as an older person, that I am still growing every day. And, I intend to keep growing from here until I take my last breath in faith. I really do want to be better. I want to have much more unwavering faith in Jesus.

I want to make the corrections and adjustments to receive His best for me. I want to see more of who He is in me. And what it really means to be in union with Him.

I know as I am writing now that there are many of you who feel the same way as I do. I express myself to you the reader–perhaps you already understand what I am seeing also. But, I hope that in doing this, I can maybe encourage someone who is struggling with stuff in this life.

Maybe a spark of truth will point them in a different direction with the Lord. All of us who are His should earnestly desire to grow and understand who we are and what we are. And, to also find out what we can do because of our union with Jesus.

Growth! Sometimes, it’s not easy. Sometimes, it’s not pleasant to face up to what needs to change. But, thank God for the correction that Jesus gives us. Because, then, we can grow in understanding of our unlimited union with Him.” KF KenFletcher.org
